The Defender Pre Runner build has begun

The Defender Pre Runner build has begun

Back in 2014, Jack bought a brand new Land Rover Defender. A shorty with the 90 inch wheel base, in striking royal blue. It was his dream car and perfect for the 4WD adventures, camping trips and use for recoveries.

Quickly Jack added a roof rack, bull bar, spotlights, winch and a custom rear bar to mount a spare tyre. Inside he removed the two rear seats and built rear drawer system for camping gear, tools, an Engel, and a small air compressor.

Living in Darwin, the Defender was a perfect vehicle for trips to Arnhem Land, down to Katherine or out to Dundee Beach. There are trails that leave the bitumen all over the Top End, so there is always something to explore. Even heading out to Litchfield was a roughly maintained, unsealed road.

Not long after was when Jack and Amy met, which led to Amy moving to Darwin.

Together they did a 'half-lap' down the West Australian (WA) coast, taking in the boab trees around Kununurra, salt flats of Wyndham, and sunsets on Cable Beach. The road trip went all the way to Esperance.

A year or so later, was the east coast 'half-lap', through Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Over six weeks, we visited family, friends, and enjoyed lots of beach side camping.

In 2018, we had just finished an LS Swap for our friend Tom, into his Land Rover Discovery. Then in 2019/2020, we undertook an LS Swap for Jack's Dad, into his 2007 Defender 110. Our Defender was off the road as well, but in between racing and other projects, she went into storage.

As a roller with the LS engine roughly mounted and packed full of all the parts we would one day use, the Defender moved from Darwin to Alice Springs, and then down to SA.

Now, after 7 years, the Defender project is underway! With a vision of  making a Pre Runner, with full ADRA compliance and approval from SA Gov.

We'll be sharing bits and pieces of the process on our socials and youtube, so be sure to follow along.
